Our new partner: the Whiting Foundation!

We are over the moon to announce our new partnership with the Whiting Foundation, which has been supporting emerging writers and the arts since 1973. Past grantees include David Foster Wallace, Colson Whitehead, Lydia Davis, Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, Katha Pollitt, and Tony Kushner—all recognized by Whiting long before they became household names. Recent winners include Jia Tolentino, Ocean Vuong, Nicholas Boggs, Jericho Brown, Tony Tulathimutte, and Megha Majumdar.

We’ll be working with past and current winners of both the Nonfiction Grant for Works-in-Progress and the Whiting Award for Emerging Writers in our 6-Week Book Publicity Intensives and other programs. Constantia Constantinou, the Foundation's Executive Director,  explained the partnership this way: “At a moment when traditional support systems for writers are eroding—publishers cutting marketing budgets, media coverage shrinking, independent bookstores struggling—we wanted to expand the kind of comprehensive support we've always believed in."
